The Georgia Sea Turtle Center Uses 21 st Century Technology, Artistry to Tell 250-million-year-old Story If knowledge is power, then it is appropriate that a power plant will soon be given over to education. One of five buildings built in 1903 on Jekyll Island, the station that once provided power to the exclusive Jekyll Island Club is the last structure in this National Historic Landmark District awaiting renovations for active use.  When renovations are complete it will be the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, a multi-media interpretive facility dedicated to informing the public about the fascinating natural history of the sea turtle and the many challenges facing this remarkable creature.
