A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Dion Davis has more than 15 years of experience managing various organizations. Her career in leadership began in 1986, when she joined the United States Air Force and trained as a radar electrician. For six years, she put this highly-technical skill set to use at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
After serving her country, Davis attended the Pennsylvania School of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and worked as a pastry chef for several years until she discovered her love and gift for organizational management, administration and community building.
Davis most recently provided her leadership and community-building talents at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, where she worked as the Chamber Coordinator and Membership Director. In that role, she grew the chamber to more than 300 members, founded the Chamber Ambassador Program and launched key networking programs.
In 2011, Davis moved to Brunswick, Georgia, to assume the Office Manager position at the Jekyll Island Foundation. After serving for only 18 months, the Executive Director position became available, and the nine-member Foundation Board of Directors unanimously voted for Davis to take on the position, given her strong sense of dedication, energetic leadership, and incomparable creativity.
During her tenure at the Foundation, Davis has developed a proven track record of consistently exceeding expectations, by effectively and efficiently navigating within fast-paced work environments, creatively approaching challenges, and skillfully managing assigned projects.
Through her years of management, leadership and variety of occupational opportunities, Davis has gleaned skills which showcase her strong communication and collaboration talents and is able to cultivate relationships quickly and easily. She, too, has extensive experience leading start-up and turnaround initiatives instrumental in positioning organizations for long-term success.
More than a leader, Davis is also a kindred spirit, always up for a new opportunity to experience life to the fullest. She has enjoyed living in nine states, as well as traveled to seven countries. Her passion for life and travel largely stems from her non-traditional childhood, when she spent her summers on the road with her father, Hall of Fame Professional Bowler Dave Davis. She has one sister, one nephew, one niece and two great nephews.
