Barbara Mayo “Boog” Candler

Immediate Past Chair 

“Boog” Candler, a teacher (retired) from The Cathedral Preschool in Atlanta, Georgia, holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Maryland College in Secondary Education. Highlights of her professional career include owner/operator of a vintage clothing store, interpreter for the deaf and hearing impaired in Richmond County, and music teacher at Woodward Academy. She introduced the “Mother’s Morning Out Program” to Holy Spirit Church in Cumming, Georgia, in 1988 and managed the program while performing as a musician in two bands – Trinity Travelers and Shady Grove.

Ms. Candler serves on the board of Cathedral Bookstore and is an advisory member of Project Open Hand. She previously served on the boards of Project Open Hand, Atlanta Opera, and Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta Commission on Ministry. She was also a Cathedral Antique Show volunteer.

Mrs. Candler enjoys exploring nature, reading, tennis, sewing, music, and participating in the annual Southeastern Flower Show. She is married to Samuel Candler and they have three children, Sarah, Martha, and Samuel.
